After graduating from Acadia University in 2001, David obtained his CA designation in November 2003. Having grown up in a family of entrepreneurs, it wasn’t long before David decided to leave his former employer and join this firm, where he has now been since 2005. David has been the managing partner of Maynard Bent & Fagan, Chartered Accountants since 2010, As an avid investor and entrepreneur, David has always taken the opportunity to explore and take advantage of various business ventures and investments as well.
David married Luwanna, his high school sweetheart, in 2001. They have two girls that keep them busy outside work. Putting a high priority on health and fitness, David is an avid golfer, basketball player, runner and gym rat and coaches both his daughter's basketball teams. A former Rotarian of 6 years, David now is heavily involved in the Kentville Development Corporation, and serves as the treasurer and member of the executive management team.
Flattered to hear, “you’re not a typical accountant, are you”, James prides himself on being a different kind of Accountant, Tax Specialist, and Business Advisor. Born and raised in Berwick, NS, James studied at St. Francis Xavier where he obtained his BBA with a major in Accounting. After graduating, James moved to Alberta where he obtained his CA with a national firm. Working with owner-managed businesses, James continued his studies completing the CICA In-depth Tax Program and specializing in corporate reorganization, acquisitions, and estate planning.
In 2013 James and his wife, Sarah, moved home to start a family. Recently joining Maynard Bent & Fagan as a Partner, James is looking forward to replanting roots in the Valley and becoming part of the community. Like a true Canadian, you will catch James on the ice playing with the Berwick Rec League Champions (2014-2015, 2015-2016) and when the ice melts, he’ll have a rod and reel in hand… and hopefully a 20-inch bass.
